A&P is one of the longest established ship repair and ship conversion businesses in the UK, operating from three locations, Falmouth, and Tyne and Tees in the North East

TDG were approached back in late 2010 and asked to help increase awareness of the group and help them reach new markets beyond the home territories outside of traditional marine services.

Following a series of site visits and emersion over a period of 3 or 4 weeks, we went on to develop a clear strategy for the A&P Group – essentially a vision that would position the group beyond ship repair contractors, and provide a platform for significant growth within new sectors such as Renewables and Oil and Gas.

Our central organising idea for the group was simply “Engineering Strength”. These two simple words together embodied A&P’s core offering and its capability to provide a diverse range of large scale engineering solutions.

The result was a new brand underpinned by a unique and powerful brand story. The new communications styling incorporated imagery and a tone of voice which portrayed scale, strength and confidence, befitting of an engineering services and fabrication group with international capability and a rich heritage in marine engineering.

This new brand and expanded proposition was subsequently delivered to key target markets thorough an integrated marketing programme which included digital communications, PR and press advertising, international events and social media.

Since the re-launch of the A&P Group in May of 2011, the group has increased its international presence and secured significant business in the marine markets as well as major new multi-million pound contracts within the Renewables and Oil and Gas sectors.
